6.7 Usage tips
•
Clear the lawn of debris. Make sure it is free of stones, sticks, wires, or
other foreign objects that could be accidentally thrown by the machine in
any direction and cause serious personal injury to the operator and
others, as well as damage to property and surrounding objects.
Warning:
If you strike a foreign object, stop the engine. Remove spark
plug wire, thoroughly inspect machine for damage, and repair damage
before restarting and using.
•
Do not mow wet grass. For efficient mowing, do not mow wet grass as it
tends to stick to the underside of the deck, preventing grass clippings
from being properly mowed.
•
Do not cut more than 1/3 of the length of the grass. The recommended
cut for mowing is 1/3 the length of the lawn. Ground speed will need to
be adjusted so clippings can be spread evenly across the lawn.
•
For especially heavy cuts in thick grass, it may be necessary to use one
of the slower speeds to achieve a clean, well-mowed cut.
•
When mowing long grass, you may have to cut in two passes, lowering
the blade another 1/3 of the length for the second cut and perhaps
cutting in a different pattern than the one used the first time. Overlapping
the cut a little on each pass will also help remove any lost trimmings that
remain.
•
The machine should always be used at full speed to gel the cut and
allow it to do the most efficient cutting work.
•
Clean the underside of the platform. Be sure to clean the underside of
the mower deck after each use to prevent grass build-up.
•
When cutting leaves, make sure they are dry and not too thick on the
lawn. Don't wait for all the leaves to fall off the trees before mowing the
lawn.
•
Extensive machine vibration during operation is an indication of damage.
It must be inspected and repaired immediately.
