Chapter 13:Effects
The Effects screen manages 16 user-assignable effects devices, collectively called the
“internal effects pool”. This is a ‘bundle’ of onboard creative audio effects that provide
onboard facilities where outboard effects units would have traditionally been required.
All of the points in the console’s signal flow where outboard effects can be inserted,
such as auxes and returns or insert points on input channels, audio subgoups, mix and
master buses, can be patched to effects in the internal effects pool as well as external
world XLRs. The internal effects pool comprises:
• Virtual DN-780 effects; see page 244.
• Delay effects; see page 254.
• Flanger effects; see page 258.
• Phaser effects; see page 256.
The Effects screen is accessed either from the GUI by selecting home Rack Units
Effects or by pressing the effects/graphics button in the primary navigation zone.
After setting up the rack (see “Setting up the effects rack” on page 188 - see below for
an example of one that has been set up), an effect is selected simply by clicking on its
fascia within the effects rack. Front and rear panel images of the effects device appear,
superimposed on the effects rack. These images replicate the behaviour of its physical
counterpart.
