Driver Installation - 7, Vista, XP, and 2000

The USB drivers should be installed before the RS-485 converter is connected to
the PC’s USB port.  After the drivers are installed, Windows will automatically
detect the converter when it is connected to a USB port and complete the setup.

To pre-install the drivers, run setup.exe from the included CD and follow the on-
screen prompts.  The CD will auto-run this fi le if the Windows auto-run feature
is enabled for your CD drive and the setup.exe application will determine your
operating system so that the correct installer can be used.

Click

drivers...

 to run the driver installer

wizard.

After the drivers are installed, con-
nect your converter to a USB port to
complete the installation.

Windows will assign a COM port
number to your converter.  You will
need to know the assigned number
so that the software you use with
your converter can be set to use the
same port number.  Click

Find my

Converter’s COM port number...

 to

display a list of connected devices
and their assigned port numbers.

Installers can be run manually. For 32 bit operating systems browse to the
x86 folder on the CD and run the DPInst.exe application. For 64 bit operating
systems browse to the x64 folder on the CD and run the DPInst.exe application.
You may need administrative privileges to run the driver installer.  If so log-in
as an administrator and right click on the DPInst.exe fi le in Windows Explorer.
Select “Run as administrator”.

The USB drivers are Microsoft certifi ed and are available on the Microsoft
Driver Distribution Center web site. The fi les can be automatically installed
without the CD if your computer is connected to the internet and you select to
search the web for the latest driver version.
