Assembly Instructions
Protective Film
opto
NCDT
1900
Warnings
The sensor emits laser radiation during opera-
tion. Eyes could become irritated or damaged.
Close your eyes, or immediately turn away if
the laser beam hits the eye.
Disconnect the sensor from the power supply or switch the power
supply off.
Alternatively, switch off the laser light source in the sensor. To do this,
use the control input
Laser on/off
; see operating or assembly
instructions.
> Risk of injury
Avoid shocks and impacts to the sensor.
> Damage to or destruction of the sensor.
Avoid damage (scratches) to the protective windows on the sensor
through unsuitable cleaning methods or cleaning agents.
> Inaccurate or incorrect measurements
Do not touch the protective window on the sensor. Immediately wipe
off any fingerprints.
> Inaccurate or incorrect measurements
Advantages of Protective Film
Streaks or scratches on the glass window of the sensor lead to un-
wanted reflections in the beam path and thus to less accurate mea-
surement results.
A protective film
- prevents scratches on the glass window,
- can be changed if necessary.
Preparation
Disconnect the sensor from the power supply or switch the power
supply off. Alternatively, switch off the laser light source in the
sensor. To do this, use the control input
Laser on/off
; see
operating or assembly instructions.
Before applying the protective film, check that the laser is
switched off.
Clean the glass surface with a lint-free cloth.
Gently wipe the glass surface with the lint-free cloth.
Procedure
Remove the protective film from the carrier film.
Hold the carrier film by the edges, bend at the kink and remove
the protective film from the carrier film.
Stick the protective film on the sensor
i
The regions where the laser beam exits and the optical receiving
system for the reflected laser light must be completely covered
by the protective film.
Place the protective film on the glass window and smooth over it.
To do this, use a lint-free cloth. Make sure no bubbles form.
Important
- Completely cover laser beam exit
and optical receiving system
- No air pockets between glass win-
dow and protective film
If there are air pockets between the
protective film and the glass window
after the film has been applied, do not
attempt to remove them. Remove the
protective film and start again with a
new protective film as per the section
