Target Position
The measuring ranges of the used sensors are decisive when positioning the target in
the measuring gap. The target must be within both sensor measuring ranges for a cor-
rect thickness measurement.
Guide the target through the measuring system at the correct installation height
Take appropriate measures, e.g. guide rollers, to ensure that the target does not
collide with the measuring machine.

Measuring range of the measuring machine and
measuring range sensor 1/2
The measuring range is the vertical range which is
metrologically detected. It results from the thickness
tolerance and the vertical movements of the target.

Work-
ing gap
Distance between the lower and upper beams
A large working gap reduces the risk of the meas-
uring machine being damaged due to extremely
vertical target movements. Specifies the vertical
range in which the target can move during the
current measurement. For example, with extremely
high material positions (uplifting, wave formation,
etc.), the target can temporarily leave the measuring
range of the sensors. The measuring machine must
not be damaged.

the appendix

The measuring machine requires a warm-up time of typically 20 min for repeatable
measurements.
NOTICE
Risk of collision. The
measuring machine
can be damaged by the
target. Guide the target
through the measuring
machine using suitable
tools in such a way that
the target and the meas-
uring machine cannot
collide.
