MFJ-1730 2-Meter Pocket Roll-Up Antenna
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the
MFJ-1730 Pocket Roll-Up Antenna.
The MFJ-1730 is a ½
wave roll-up J-Pole designed for the 2-meter band. Hang it and operate with MFJ roll-up
antennas anywhere and everywhere! The MFJ-1730 comes completely assembled and is ready
to connect to your radio with BNC connector; however, if your radio does not have a BNC
connector, you will need an adapter (MFJ-7737).
OPERATION
1. Suspend the MFJ-1730 in a vertical position. The hole located in the end of the antenna
can be used to hang the antenna. The antenna must be hung up using a non-conductive
material such as a clothespin.
2. Do not set up the antenna so that it could touch a conductive object. This will cause
detuning of the antenna. The antenna may also be detuned if it is set up close to any
conductive object such as a metal window.
3. The antenna is designed to work without a ground plane, but operation may be enhanced
when located over a large conductive surface like a refrigerator or file cabinet.
4. If the antenna will be permanently mounted outdoors, you may wish to weatherproof it
by mounting it inside a length of 5/8” PVC. The PVC may affect the performance of the
antenna.
5. Operate on the 2-meter band with no tuning needed.
