Checking the acid level
The battery acid level falls due to evap-
oration of water, especially during
high ambient temperature.

Note:
Top up to the correct acid level with
distilled water if necessary.
The acid level is correct when it is
– just above the filling hole insert or
– approx. 5 mm above the top edges
of the plates (fig. 76).

Note:
Maintenance-free batteries:
Vent plugs are not visible. – These
batteries do not require mainte-
nance. Acid level cannot be meas-
ured.

Do not tilt open batteries. – If acid
leaks out there is a danger of acid
burn.

Protect the eyes from acid spray by
wearing goggles and wear gloves
when checking or topping up un-
sealed batteries.

Use only distilled water for topping
up unsealed batteries.

Use a metal funnel for filling or
topping up. – Danger of short cir-
cuit.

Removing the battery
1. Park the wheelchair on a level sur-
face and switch off the operating
module.
2. Remove the battery fuse (fig. 72/

4. Adjust to the greatest possible seat
inclination (fig. 74).

5. Open the latch of the spanning
belt. – You do this by pushing to-
gether the springs of the snap-
catch.
6. Remove the battery cover (fig. 75).

In order to be able to take of the
battery lid, the greatest possible
seat inclination has to be set previ-
ously (fig. 74).
The vehicle is made ready again in the
reverse order.
