6 ANALYSING PERFORMANCE
This section has been laid out for ease of reading. The Physical layer is described in
Sections 6.2 to 6.4. Error and alarm definitions, menu screens and screen formats are
described in these sections. The errors and alarms sections are intended to introduce and
summarise the subject for the ATM CBR DSU family. Section 6.5 describes all aspects of
the PLCP layer for DS3 interfaces. Section 6.6 describes all aspects of the ATM layer errors,
alarms and statistics in a single self-contained section. Section 6.7 describes the AAL1
process and associated statistics

6. 1 Layer definitions
The ATM CBR DSU family provides extensive performance analysis functions. This enables
long-term quality of service information at layers 0, 1 and 2 for to be derived, as follows:
