Cleaning
Prior to the first use and after every period, the Merula Cup XL should be boiled for
5 minutes in water (if required with a couple of drops of vinegar). You can either do
this in a pot on the stove or in a container in the microwave (e.g. with help of the
Merula Cupscup
).
The menstrual cup should be thoroughly cleaned after every use (at the latest every 8
hours). Empty the content of the Merula Cup XL into the toilet, get rid of blood residue
by either rubbing it off or by washing the cup with cold water and then disinfect the
cup by either boiling it or by using
Merula Spray
,
Merula Wipes
or any other adequate
cleaning products with disinfecting effect that can be used for intimate products
made from silicone.
The
Merula Wipes
and the
Merula Spray
are particularly practical when you are on
the go. You can also thoroughly rinse and clean your cup with water from a bottle
you have brought along. Make sure that there is never more than 8 hours between
two thorough cleanings.
Always keep your Merula Cup XL in an airy container, e.g. the provided pouch
when not in use. You can use your cup for several years if optimally cared for. Slight
discolorations over time are normal.
Adjusting
You can adjust the stem of the Merula Cup XL to the perfect length for you. Try out the
cup several times in order to discover which length is right for you.

The cup and the stem should be completely within your body, but you should be
able to reach it with one finger. Remove one or two of the marked segments with nail
scissors (not while in use within your body!). We strongly recommend not completely
removing the stem. Thoroughly clean the Merula Cup XL after you have shortened it.
If you want to find out more about the use of the Merula Cup XL, please visit our
