12-Volt DC System
Batteries
•
The batteries supply electricity for lights, 12-volt accessories, engine starting and generator starting.
•
The Electrical section in Chapter 8 of the Cruiser & Yacht Owner’s Manual Supplement provides battery care and
maintenance instructions.
Battery Switches
•
A separate battery switch is provided
for each battery (or battery bank).
The battery switches are located on
the battery management panel.
(For
the location of the battery manage-
ment panel, see the Component Loca-
tions section in Chapter 2 of this
Owner’s Manual).
•
Standby-loads, such as the auto-
matic bilge pumps and the stereo
memory, are not affected by the bat-
tery switches since they are wired
directly to the batteries.
•
Turn the battery switches to the Off
position whenever your yacht will be
unoccupied for long periods of time.
SHOCK and ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DAMAGE HAZARD!
When the engines are running, NEVER turn Off the main battery switches or discon-
nect the battery cables. Doing either could cause damage to your yacht’s engines and/or
electrical system components.
