Start in Gear Protection
!
WARNING
Starting the engine with the drive in gear can cause serious injury or death. Never operate a boat that
does not have a neutral-safety-protection device.
The remote control connected to the outboard must be equipped with a start in neutral only protection
device. This prevents the engine from starting in gear.
Selecting Accessories For Your Outboard
Genuine Mercury Precision or Quicksilver Accessories have been specifically designed and tested for
this outboard.
Some accessories not manufactured or sold by Mercury Marine are not designed to be safely used with
this outboard or outboard operating system. Acquire and read the installation, operation, and
maintenance manuals for all selected accessories.
Fuel Tanks
PORTABLE FUEL TANK
Select a suitable location in the boat within the engine fuel line length limitations and secure the tank in
place.
PERMANENT FUEL TANK
Permanent fuel tanks should be installed in accordance with industry and federal safety standards, which
include recommendations applicable to grounding, anti-siphon protection, ventilation, etc.
