This manual describes all models and
standard and optional equipment of your
vehicle that were available when the man-
ual went to press. Country-specific differ-
ences are possible. Note that your vehicle
may not be equipped with all the functions
described. This also applies to safety-rele-
vant systems and functions.

ual.
Overview
The LINGUATRONIC voice-operated control
system allows you to operate the following
systems, depending on the equipment in your
vehicle:
R
Telephone
R
Navigation
R
Address book
R
Audio (radio, CD/DVD player, memory
card, hard disk, Media Interface, USB, Blue-
tooth
®
audio)
R
TV and video
Say the commands without pausing between
individual words. If you enter a non-existent
or incorrect command, LINGUATRONIC
responds with "Please repeat" or "Please
repeat your entry" to request a new com-
mand.
LINGUATRONIC confirms when you enter
important commands and informs you when
you make an incorrect entry.
Command types
A distinction is drawn between the following
types of command in LINGUATRONIC:

Global commands:
These are commands that can be called up
at any time (such as help or phone com-
mands).
R
Local commands:
These are commands that are only availa-
ble for the active application (such as "Esti-
mate arrival time" for navigation).
Active application
The local commands refer to the application
currently shown on the display and to the
audio source you are currently listening to.
If, for example, you are listening to the radio
while the navigation application is active on
the display, you can operate both applica-
tions using voice control.
If you would like to operate another function
using voice control, you must first switch to
the application in question with the appropri-
ate command.
Operation using the multifunction
steering wheel
LINGUATRONIC is operational approximately
thirty seconds after it is switched on.

You can cancel the dialogue with LINGUA-
TRONIC at any time.
