If you park the vehicle with the transmission in
neutral position

and the parking brake is
not engaged, the vehicle may roll away.
There is a risk of accident and injury!

Before parking the vehicle, apply the
parking brake.
#
Press the brake pedal and the DIRECT SELECT
lever upwards or downwards to the first point
of resistance.
Subsequently releasing the brake pedal will allow
you to move the vehicle freely, e.g. to push it or
tow it away.
If the transmission should also stay in neutral

when the vehicle is switched off, proceed as fol-
lows:

Start the vehicle.

Depress the brake pedal and engage neutral
i

Release the brake pedal.
#
Switch off the vehicle.

If you then exit the vehicle leaving the key in
the vehicle, the transmission remains in neu-
tral

while the vehicle is rolling
If you shift the transmission into park position

while the vehicle is rolling, the transmission
may be damaged.

If the vehicle is rolling, do not open a
door.

Only engage the park position

when
the vehicle is stationary.

Observe the notes on parking the vehicle

page 146).
#
Depress the brake pedal until the vehicle is
stationary.
#
When the vehicle is stationary, press button

Park position is then engaged when the display
in the instrument cluster displays the

trans-
mission position display. If no transmission
position display
j
appears, secure the vehicle
to prevent it from rolling away.
Park position

is engaged automatically when
one of the following conditions is met:

You switch the vehicle off with the transmis-
sion in position

You open the driver's seat belt buckle when
the HOLD function is activated.

If you open the driver's door while the vehicle
is stationary in transmission position

If you pull out the key.

If you would like to manoeuvre with an open
driver's door, open the driver's door while sta-
tionary and engage transmission position

Function of the DYNAMIC SELECT switch
Use the DYNAMIC SELECT switch to switch
between the following drive programs.
The drive program selected appears in the instru-
ment cluster display next to the transmission posi-
tion display. After starting the vehicle, the trans-
mission switches automatically to drive program
