SPEEDTRONIC is temporarily deactivated by
depressing the accelerator pedal beyond the
pressure point (kickdown). SPEEDTRONIC is
automatically reactivated if the speed driven
falls below the stored speed.
If you exceed the set speed, the display for the
set maximum speed flashes in the instrument
cluster. An additional warning tone sounds.
i
The last speed stored is cleared when you
switch off the engine.
The reversing aid is an electronic parking aid. It
indicates the distance between your vehicle and
an object audibly. The reversing aid is automat-
ically activated if the engine is running and you
shift to reverse gear.
The reversing aid monitors the area around your
vehicle with four sensors
:
in the rear bumper.
The sensors must be free of dirt, ice or slush.
Otherwise, they cannot function correctly.
Clean the sensors regularly, taking care not to
scratch or damage them.
The reversing aid is only an aid. It cannot replace
your own awareness of the immediate surround-
ings. You are responsible for safe manoeuvring,
parking and pulling away. When manoeuvring,
parking and pulling away, make sure that there
are no persons, animals or objects in the
manoeuvring area.
!
When parking, pay particular attention to
objects above or below the sensors, such as
flower pots or trailer drawbars. The reversing
aid does not detect such objects when they
are in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle.
You could damage the vehicle or objects.
The sensors may not detect snow and other
objects that absorb ultrasonic waves.
Ultrasonic sources such as an automatic car
wash, the compressed-air brakes of a lorry or
a pneumatic drill could cause the reversing
aid to malfunction.
The reversing aid may not function correctly
on uneven terrain.
The reversing aid does not account for obstacles
that are:
R
beneath its detection range, e.g. persons, ani-
mals or objects
R
above its detection range, e.g. overhanging
loads, overhangs or truck loading ramps
The reversing aid is activated automatically
when you
R
shift to reverse gear while the engine is run-
ning
i
When reverse gear is engaged an acoustic
signal sounds.
Switching the reversing aid on and off
When reverse gear is engaged, the system
measures the distance between your vehicle
and an obstacle. A warning tone sounds as you
approach the obstacle. With increasing proxim-
ity to the obstacle the frequency of the tone
increases. When the vehicle is a maximum of
25 cm away from the obstacle, a continuous
tone sounds.
