OPERATION
Description
The distance meter can measure distances from 0.5 to 15 metres. The distance meter measures
distances by measuring the time it takes for ultrasonic waves to be reflected from the object to which you
want to measure the distance, and calculates the distance on this basis.
Functions
Measure the distance to an object with the laser beam.
Switching units: Distances can be measured in feet or metres.
Automatic power OFF: The distance meter switches off if no buttons are pressed for 30 seconds.
Addition function: Used to add two units.
Multiplication function for area and volume: Used to calculate the area or volume on the basis of
measured distances.
Before use
The appliance is sensitive to variations in temperature and/or humidity. Wait 15 minutes before using so
that the appliance can reach the same temperature as the surroundings.
Starting
Press the READ button to start the appliance. The distance measuring mode is activated when the
appliance is switched on.
The distance meter switches off if no buttons are pressed for 30 seconds.
Selection of feet/metres
Press +/= and x/= at the same time to display the measured distance in feet or metres.
Measuring
Press the button READ once for single measurements and hold the button pressed for at least 3 seconds
for continuous measuring. ERROR is displayed if the distance is longer or shorter than the measuring
range.
Addition of measurements.
1.
Press the READ button to store the measured distance.
2.
Press +/= to activate addition mode.
3.
Press the READ button again to do a new measurement.
4.
Press +/= again to add the measurement. The total is shown in the display.
5.
Press the READ button to exit addition mode.
Calculation of area and volume
1.
Press the READ button to measure a distance (length).
2.
Press x/= to activate multiplication mode.
3.
Press the READ button to measure the next distance (width).
4.
Press x/= again. The calculated area is shown, marked with sq.
5.
Press the READ button to measure the next distance (height).
6.
Press x/= again. The calculated volume is shown, marked with cu.
7.
Press the READ button twice to exit multiplication mode.
NOTE:
The + symbol and number of additions is shown on the display when the addition mode is active. If more
than nine values are added the symbol
– is shown, but you can continue adding continuously. It is not
possible to multiply the sum of added distances with a new measured distance.
Inserting the battery
1.
Open the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow.
2.
Insert the battery in the battery compartment with the terminals (+/-) correctly positioned as shown
by the markings in the compartment.
