7. Standard Operating Procedures

To Start the Engine
Before starting the engine check to see that there are no obvious faults with the machine. Refer
to Figure 7.6 which shows the start key positions.

PROCEDURE
1.
Sit on the seat.
2.
Check that the parking brake is applied and the forward/reverse switch is in Neutral.
3.
Turn the start key to position 1 (Run) an audible warning will sound indicating the parking
brake is applied.
4.
Wait for the heater warning light to go out.
5.
Further turn the switch to position 2 (START) and crank the engine.
6.
Release the key immediately the engine starts and allow the to return to position 1.
NOTICE
Do Not use starting sprays to assist engine starting.
Do Not crank engines for more than 10 seconds - allow 30 seconds before between starting
attempts.
Never engage the starter motor when the engine is running.
