FIG. 35: Before unplugging the baler or doing any
lubrication, cleaning, or adjusting the baler:
• Park the baler on a solid level surface.
• Put the towing vehicle transmission in PARK and
apply the tractor parking brake.
• Stop the towing vehicle engine and take the key with
you.
• Disengage the baler clutch.
• Look and Listen! Make sure all moving parts have
stopped.
Always lock the towing vehicle brakes and block the
wheels before working on or under the baler.
DO NOT try to service or adjust the baler until the baler
flywheel has stopped rotating.
Always remove the keys from the towing vehicle and take
the keys with you when parking the baler.
FIG. 36: Never check or lubricate the roller chains while
the baler is running.
Check the drive belts with the tractor engine shut off.
Do not pull crop or any other item from the pickup
assembly while the baler is running.
Check all nuts and bolts periodically for tightness,
especially wheel mounting hardware.
After lubrication, cleaning, servicing, or adjusting the
baler, make sure all tools and equipment have been
removed.
FIG. 37: Serious injury can result from threading the
needles with the baler running. The needle frame can
move without putting any hay into the baler. Stop the
towing vehicles engine and take the key with you before
threading the needles.
Do not try to remove twine from the bale chamber or
knotter while the baler is running.
