Precautions for Fuel System Service
AENAR90A1700001
WARNING
!
Before servicing on fuel system, the following points should be always observed in order to reduce the
risk of fire and personal injury.
• Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.
• Do not smoke, and place no smoking signs near working area.
• Be sure to have CO
2
fire extinguisher handy.
• Be sure to perform work in a well-ventilated area. If necessary, install equipment such as a gas leak
alarm in the working area.
• Do not perform any actions that will spark, if gas leak is detected.
• Be sure to perform work away from any open flames such as gas heater.
• Wear safety glasses.
• To relieve fuel vapor pressure in fuel tank, remove fuel filler cap from fuel filler neck and then
reinstall it.
• As fuel feed line is still under high fuel pressure even after stopping engine, loosening or
disconnecting fuel feed line directly may cause dangerous spout of fuel. Before loosening or
disconnecting fuel feed line, make sure to relieve fuel pressure.
• A small amount of fuel may be released when the fuel line is disconnected. In order to reduce the
risk of personal injury, cover the fitting to be disconnected with shop cloth.
• Never perform service work when engine and exhaust system are hot.
CAUTION
!
Use unleaded fuel only.
Leaded or low lead fuel can result in engine damage and reduce the effectiveness of the emission
control system.
General Description
Fuel System Description
AENAR90A1701001
This model employs a bi-fuel system capable of utilizing
two types of fuel, petrol and LPG appropriately.
This system operates in three fuel modes: “Petrol
MODE”, “Forced LPG MODE” and “AUTO MODE”, each
of which can be selected with the selector switch.
For more information on the system control, refer to “Bi-
Fuel LPG System Description”: Bi-Fuel LPG model in
Section 1A.
Petrol and LPG fuel systems contain the following
principle components.
• Petrol fuel system
Fuel tank, fuel pump assembly (with built-in petrol fuel
pressure regulator), petrol fuel filter, petrol fuel
delivery pipe, petrol fuel injectors, petrol fuel feed line,
fuel return line and fuel vapor line.
• LPG fuel system
LPG Filler Valve, LPG tank, LPG tank valve, LPG
pressure gauge, LPG pressure regulator, LPG fuel
filter, LPG fuel injector assembly and LPG fuel feed
line.
Fuel Delivery System Description
AENAR90A1701002
LPG Delivery System
Gas contained in the LPG tank passes through the LPG
fuel pipe to the LPG pressure regulator when the shut-off
valve of the LPG tank valve is opened. High pressure
LPG is decompressed to a suitable pressure for fuel
injection by the LPG pressure regulator. The
decompressed gas passes through the LPG fuel filter in
order to remove oil, etc. The gas is then injected from
LPG fuel injector.
