Diagnostic Information and Procedures
Engine Vacuum Check

The engine vacuum that develops in the intake line is a
good indicator of the condition of the engine.
Using SUZUKI Scan Tool
1) Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2) Place transaxle gear shift lever in “Neutral” and
apply parking brake.
3) Stop engine and turn off all electric switches.
4) Connect SUZUKI scan tool to DLC (1) with ignition
switch turned OFF.
Special tool
(A): SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI-SDT)
5) Start engine and confirm that all electric loads
(switches) are turned off.
6) Select “MAP” under “Data List” mode on scan tool.
Check manifold absolute pressure displayed on scan
tool.
Manifold absolute pressure should be specification
at specified idle speed.
Manifold absolute pressure specification (at sea
level)
: 34 kPa (0.35 kgf/cm
2
, 4.93 psi, 0.34 bar) or less
at specified idle speed
Not Using SUZUKI Scan Tool
1) Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2) Place transaxle gear shift lever in “Neutral” and
apply parking brake.
3) Stop engine and turn off all electric switches.
4) Remove air cleaner assembly.

5) Remove PCV hose (1) from PCV valve (2).
6) Connect special tool to PCV hose (1).
Special tool
(A): 09915M67311
7) Close PCV valve (2) using tape (3) or the like.
8) Install air cleaner assembly.
)
9) Start engine and confirm that all electric loads
(switches) are turned off.
10) Read vacuum gauge. Vacuum should be
specification at specified idle speed.
• Petrol model: Reference “Idle Speed and ISC
Duty Inspection: Petrol Model” in Section 1A in
related manual mentioned in the Foreword of this
manual.
• Bi-Fuel LPG model:
Vacuum specification (at sea level)
: –67 kPa (–0.68 kgf/cm
2
, –9.72 psi, –0.67 bar) or
more at specified idle speed
11) After checking, remove air cleaner assembly.
)
12) Disconnect special tool from PCV valve.
13) Peel off tape from PCV valve.
14) Connect PCV hose to PCV valve.
15) Install air cleaner assembly.
)

Inspection
1) Disconnect negative (–) cable from battery.
2) Remove cylinder head cover.
