Adding Security to Your Adapter Network
The following steps are optional but highly recommended to ensure maximum
security — important in environments like apartment buildings, where a
wiring system is shared.
• If you are setting up your first two SimpleNet Powerline AV500 Ethernet
Adapters, once both of them are powered and connected to devices:
– Press the Security button on Adapter 1 for 1-3 seconds.
– Within 2 minutes, press the Security button on Adapter 2 for 1-3 seconds.
The Power LEDs will flash while the devices are
establishing a secure connection, then remain
lit once the connection has been established.
• If you’re adding more adapters to an established
network, follow the same procedure: set up the
new adapter, then — within 2 minutes — press
the Security buttons on each adapter for 1-3
seconds.
Note:
If an added adapter was previously
installed on a different SimpleNet network, first
reset it to factory defaults by pressing the
Security (Reset) button for 12 seconds.
