XTERNAL MUSIC SOURCE
The dmc1 master can play audio from an external source.
The Model AWP (white) or Model AWPA (almond) Audio
Input Wall Plate features two stereo pairs of RCA jacks
that can be connected to a stereo receiver, television, DVD,
or MP3 player. Use the Model AWPMRX rough-in kit for
mounting the wall plate.
NOTE:
The cable connection from the external audio source to the
dmc1 must not exceed 50 feet.
At the location for the audio input wall plate, install the AWPMRX
single-gang J-box at the center height of normal wall outlets.
Be sure the J-box extends past the wall stud, into the room,
so it will be fl ush with the drywall when it is applied.
Route two shielded RCA-to-RCA cables provided with the AWPMRX
from the dmc1 master’s wall housing through the top left wiring
access hole or slot. Leave about 12” of extra cable extending
at the wall housing (see Figure 10).
LABEL THE CABLES.
Tie a knot in the cables inside the J-box to
prevent the cables from slipping out.

TEREO UPGRADE
The dmc1 system can be upgraded for stereo music
distribution using the Model MC960PA Remote Power
Amplifi er.
The power amplifi er connects to the dmc1 master and can
drive up to ten pairs of
45 ohm
intercom speakers. The
power amplifi er can also operate in monaural mode, driving
up to twenty
45 ohm
monaural intercom speakers.
Up to two additional MC960PA amplifi ers can be connected
to the primary amplifi er for increased speaker capacity.
Refer to the MC960PA Installation Instructions for details on
rough-in and fi nish out for the stereo upgrade remote power
amplifi er.
S
TEREO MUSIC SPEAKERS
45-ohm speakers for the stereo upgrade can be connected
to the optional MC960PA amplifi er to distribute radio or CD
sound throughout the installation. Each stereo speaker pair
is controlled by a single Model SVC96 (white) or SVC96I
(ivory) volume control that mounts in a single-gang J-box.
Route MS7X5SC cable from the dmc1 master’s wall housing
to the fi rst MC960PA remote amplifi er’s location.
Route MS5X5SC cable from the remote amplifi er location to each
speaker pair’s volume control J-box location.
LABEL THE CABLE.
From each volume control J-box location, route a separate
MS2SX5SC cable to each speaker of the pair (see
Figure 12). Secure the cables to avoid drywall damage.
Install the appropriate speaker mounting rings (if required) for
each speaker. Follow the speaker’s instructions for specifi c
details on dimensions and mounting of the speaker ring.
