ENGINE LUBRICATION

Checking the oil pump

Checking the ring gear axial play

• Place the

Dial gauge holder [107]

(2) with

Dial

gauge [108]

(1) on the oil pump

• Place the

Dial gauge [108]

(1) against the ring gear

(3) with a preload

• Press the ring gear (3) towards the drive gear
• Zero the

Dial gauge [108]

(1)

• Press the ring gear (3) towards the

Dial

gauge [108]

(1) and check the difference

The permitted axial play on the ring gear (3) is

0.040

– 0.090 mm

.

If the axial play is out of tolerance, t a new oil pump.

Checking the rotor axial play

• Place the

Dial gauge holder [107]

(2) with

Dial

gauge [108]

(1) on the oil pump

• Place the

Dial gauge [108]

(1) against the rotor (3)

with a preload

• Press the rotor (3) towards the drive gear
• Zero the

Dial gauge [108]

(1)

• Press the rotor (3) towards the

Dial gauge [108]

(1) and check the difference

The permitted axial play on the rotor (3) is

0.035 –

0.080 mm

.

If the axial play is out of tolerance, t a new oil pump.

Installing oil pumps

Installing oil pumps

• Position the oil pumps (2) and (3)
• Screw in the new mounting bolts (1) and (4) and

tighten them by hand as marked

• Tighten the mounting bolts (1) and (4) to

15 Nm

Attaching the cover

Note

Attach the seal with the screen-printed
side facing the crankcase.

• Clean the sealing surfaces
• Position the cover (1) with a new seal (2)
• Screw in the new mounting bolts (3), (4), (5) and

(6) as marked and then tighten them
