PRoduCT deSCRiPTion
Hand-held cable tester divided in separate host and remote terminator.
The cable tester is specialized to test each pair on a variety of cable types: STP/uTP LAn cable, Telephone cable,
10/100 base T, Token Ring, AT & T 258A, eiA/TiA 568A.
The host can only test if the cables are connected.
To make a full test, the remote terminator has to be used.
The host will show the results with both Led lamps and sound.
oPeRATion
1. Connect the cable to the terminal, which is marked with an arrow, on the host. Connect the other end of
the cable to the other terminal on the host (for a basic test) or to the remote terminal (for a full test). The
basic test will not show if any of the pairs are reversed or if the cable is of cross-over type.
2. Turn on the cable tester and a fast auto test will start. This test will check all pairs and if there is an interrup-
tion on a pair, the corresponding Led lamp will not illuminate.
3. Press the ”TeST” button to start testing the cable. The Led light will jump from up to down and result in
the following conditions:
a) All Led lamps illuminate and a short beep sounds. This means that the cable is oK.
b) no Led lamps illuminate on the host or the remote terminator and a long beep sounds. This
indicates that there is an interruption on any of the pairs. To show which pairs, press the
”ReSeT” button and the Led lamp to the corresponding pairs will not illuminate.
c) if only one Led lamp illuminates on the host and no Led lamp lights up on the remote
terminator and an alarm sounds, this indicates a short-circuit. The Led lamp indicates which
pair.
d) if the Led lamp to a pair on the host gives green light and the same Led on the remote
terminator gives yellow light, this indicates that cable pair is reversed.
e) if the Led lamps on the host jumps from pair 1&2 and down but the Led lamps on the remote
terminator jumps back and forth, the cable is of cross-over type.
When testing a shielded cable the Led for gnd gives red light if it is oK.
4. To restart the test or test another cable, please press ”ReSeT”.
The colour of the LED lamps indicate:
gReen
The cable is good.
YeLLoW Cable pair is reversed.
no LigHT The cable is faulty or not connected.
