6. Fasten the enclosed tension relief with the two
screws.
7. Attach the on-off switch.
8. Connect optional accessory components as
described below.
9. Fit the terminal box cover so that the sur-
rounding seal is tight against the terminal box
all the way around.
Notice:
Damage to the
unit, due to moisture, if the terminal box cover
is not properly fitted. Observe the tightening
torques.
Speed controller connection
With a speed controller
matching the ERR unit type, the fan
can be controlled continuously.
• Use speed controller STX 1.5 or STX 2.5 from
the Maico range of accessories.
• The technology used in the phase angle con-
troller may cause humming noises.
NOTICE The fan will stop/suffer functional
problems if the output voltage on the speed
controller is too low.
Observe the operating instructions of the speed
controller. Set the minimum speed on the speed
controller such that the fan motor starts up again
after a power failure.
Transformer connection
ERR 10/1 … ERR 31/1, ERR 10/1 S and ERR
16/1 S:
For stepwise speed adjustment, use a
TRE... 5-step transformer suitable for the unit

1. Check that all screw connections are tight.
2. Check air duct for dirt and clean if necessary.
3. Check that connection data matches the tech-
nical data on the fan (→ rating plate).
4. Run function test. Check fan operation for un-
usual noises. The air must be able to flow
freely. Ensure smooth running.
12 Maintenance
The fan is maintenance-free.
13 Fault rectification
Fault finding and repairs only permissible
when carried out by qualified electricians.
Malfunction
Cause, measures
Fan does not switch on.
No mains voltage.
Check whether the
mains fuse has failed.
Switch on if necessary.
ERR 10/1 … ERR 31/1,
ERR 10/1 S and ERR
16/1 S: Thermal over-
load protection of the
motor has triggered.
Motor too hot.
Wait
until motor and temper-
ature limiter have
cooled. Cool-down time
can be up to
10
minutes. Only then
switch the fan on again.
Fan does not switch on.
Impeller blocked.
Check the impeller and
clean the fan if neces-
sary. Check the fan for
unusual noises during
operation.
Deposits on the im-
peller and in the hous-
ing caused by dust in
the air.
Operation without air
filter.
Install air filter in
duct system.
Never
clean the interior of the
fan with water or a high-
pressure cleaner.
Impeller does not ro-
tate.
Switch off the fan. Make
sure that the impeller is
not blocked by foreign
bodies.
