ADJUSTING THE CUTTING EDGE ANGLE
The edge angle can be varied plus or minus via the adjusting crank. A
clockwise rotation of the crank will lower the wheel into the work table
resulting in a greater than 30° angle. A counter-clockwise rotation of the
crank will raise the wheel resulting in a lesser than 30° angle.
SHARPENING STRAIGHT
(OR CONVENTIONAL) BLADES
Use the 1” wide grinding wheel for highest performance.
DO NOT BE INJURED BY THE BLADE
MAKE SURE YOU WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES & GLOVES
1. Securely locate the flat worktable over the rounded curved blade
worktable and clamp with the vice grip.
2. Switch to “ON”
3. Adjust the grinding wheel crank to come in contact with the work
table. The more you cut into the work table the steeper the edge
angle.
4. To sharpen the blade, place it on the work table of the grinder. With
your left hand provide the blade with a firm downward force to
keep constant contact with the work table. Also use your
left hand to push the blade into the grinding wheel. Then use your
right hand to provide the back and forth motion to slide the blade
against the grinding wheel (if you are left handed, just do the oppo-
site.) The back and forth movement should be the length of the
desired blade edge being sharpened. The force pushing into the
grinding wheel should be substantial, resulting in a continious stream
of sparks from the grinding wheel. The grinding process should be
continious without interruption, until finished.
3. Check to make sure the blade is straight (not bent) use the MAG-1000
Blade Balancer.
WARNING
Do Not attempt to straighten a
hardened blade. You may create
fractures not visible to the eye.
REPLACE ALL BENT BLADES
