7. After the appliance has been allowed to
warm up, small adjustments (using a
small pair of tongs) may be made to the
top layer to achieve the desired flame
picture.
8. It is recommended that the fuel bed be
left alone once the desired flame pattern
has been achieved.
Constant moving
of pebbles and driftwood causes them
to disintegrate and/or cause
discolouration
.
WARNING:
Do not touch the
fire when it is alight. The fire
will remain very hot for a while
after extinguishing.

Some sooting on the fuel bed may be observed. This is perfectly normal.
Periodically operating the fire at various rates will burn this soot away. If
excessive sooting is observed, this is an indication that the fuel bed is laid
incorrectly – please refer to instructions.
