3-6 WORKTABLE PREPARATION
Whenever cuts in a certain direction are to be
made for the first time, the worktable must be
prepared in advance because, when the blade
cuts through the first piece, it will cut into the
wooden table as well. It is therefore necessary
to have the blade perform a preliminary idle
travel, with a deeper pass than will be used in
actual work. This will result in a groove in the
worktable (max. 1 cm deep) into which the
blade will pass at all subsequent cutting passes.
Perform this preliminary operation with the
utmost care whenever the arm is rotated or the
head is tilted. Inobservance of the above indi-
cations would result in hazardous cutting.
