Caring for Your Heart Rate Monitor
•
To preserve battery life and prevent strap oxidation, detached the transmitter from the
strap after every use. Sweat and moisture may keep the electrodes wet and the heart
rate sensor activated. This will reduce the transmitter battery life.
•
Rinse the strap under running water after every use. Clean the strap gently with a mild
soap and water solution when needed. Do not clean the strap in a washing machine or
dryer.
•
Note: The build-up of sweat and salt on the strap can decrease the ability of the heart
rate monitor to report accurate data.
•
The transmitter should not be washed. To clean the transmitter, wipe with a damp cloth.
Ensure that the transmitter is fully dry before using it.
Troubleshooting
If the heart rate data is erratic does not appear, you can try these tips.
•
Reapply water to the electrodes and contact patches.
•
Tighten the strap on your chest.
•
Warmup for 5 to 10 minutes.
•
Where a cotton shirt or thoroughly wet both sides of the strap.
•
Note: synthetic fabrics that rub or flap against a heart rate monitor can create static
electricity which interferes with heart rate signals.
•
Move away from sources that can interfere with your heart rate monitor.
•
Note: sources of interference may include strong electromagnetic fields, some 2.4 GHz
wireless sensors, high-voltage power lines, electric motors, ovens, microwave ovens,
2.4 GHz cordless phones, and wireless LAN access points.
