➤
Do not begin cutting until the cutter has
reached full speed.
➤
Examine the workpiece for foreign objects.
Never attempt to cut nails or other metal
objects.
➤
Move the groove-cutting machine in a straight
line and without tipping it over in order to avoid
getting the cutter stuck in the workpiece.
➤
Keep your hands away from the underside of
the workpiece when cutting (risk of injury!).
➤
When cutting, always lead the cable away from
the machine to the rear.
➤
Steady feeding during cutting increases the life
of cutter knives and the machine. Never cut
backward or by plunging the machine!
➤
Do not remove the machine from the workpiece
until the cutter is stationary.
➤
Always keep your hands well away from the cut-
ter or chip ejection area while the machine is
running. Before setting or adjusting the
machine, always switch off the machine and let
the cutter come to a standstill.
➤
The machine should be set aside only with the
retractable lower guard closed. The retractable
lower guard must not be held open permanently
by mechanical means. Check the correct func-
tion of the guard. Never remove protective
parts.
➤
The sawdust created by cutting makes it difficult
to see as clearly as may be necessary and can
be damaging to health in certain circumstances.
If not working outdoors or in well ventilated
premises, the machine should be connected to
an extractor unit, such as a small portable dust
extractor, when operating for long periods. The
air velocity must be at least 20 m/s (65.6 ft/sec.).
Instructions on service and maintenance:
➤
Regular cleaning of the machine, especially the
adjusting devices for the base plate and guide-
ways, is an important safety factor. Before
beginning this task, pull out the mains plug.
➤
Only original MAFELL spare parts and acces-
sories must be used. Otherwise the manufac-
turer does not offer any warranty and does not
accept any liability.

Setting up / Adjusting
3.1
Mains connection
The groove-cutting machine NFU 32 has Class II
protective insulation (double-insulated).
Before starting up, make sure that the mains voltage
matches the voltage stated on the rating plate.
3.2
Chip extraction
When cutting wood for a long period and when using
the machine industrially with materials that generate
dust which represents a health hazard, the machine
must be connected to a suitable dust extractor unit.
The inside diameter of the integrated hose connec-
tor is 58 mm (2 9/32 in.).
3.3
Change of cutter
• To change cutter 13 (Fig. 1) first hold front flange
9 by means of the ring spanner 45 mm (SW 45).
Then insert the Allen key (SW 6) into cylinder-
head screw 10. To slacken off the cylinder-head
screw, turn the Allen key
counterclockwise
, then
remove the screw. Open the retractable lower
guard with handle 11 provided for this purpose
and remove the cutter, together with the front
flange 9, by lifting it to the front and pulling out to
the bottom.
• Before fitting the new cutter, inspect the two
clamping flanges for foreign particles clinging to
them and clean. When inserting the cutter, note
the correct direction of rotation: the cutting edges
must point in the same direction as the arrow on
the upper protective guard. Stick the cutter and
the front flange to the rear flange and make sure
that the driving pins grip into the cutter. Fit the cyl-
inder-head screw and tighten by turning
clock-
wise
. The ring spanner can be used as an aid like
in removing the cutter.
In Germany, extractors tested for the
extraction of wood dust are specified.
Safe compliance with air pollution limits
(2 mg/m
3
) is ensured only if the machine
is connected to a tested extractor unit
(such as an industrial vacuum cleaner or
a combination unit).
Always pull out the mains plug before
changing the cutter.
