Mackie Tech Support – Basic PA Setup with ProFX Series Mixers
This document will go over how to setup a Mackie ProFx-8 mixer to a Mackie powered speaker system; including two Thump
Th-15As top speakers and one SRM-1801 subwoofer. This document will also go over how to connect two input sources
including: a Microphone and an iPod.
You will need the following cables:
5x XLR to XLR mic/line cable:

First, start with plugging the ProFX and the speakers to AC outlets. Keep the ProFX and the speakers turned off.
Now, let’s start with connecting our outputs from the ProFX-8 to the speakers. For this will need four XLR cables.

Using two XLR cables patching from the XLR main outputs left and right on the back of the ProFx to the SRM-
1801 inputs A and B. Left main from the ProFx with patch into A input on the SRM-1801 and Right main from
the ProFX to B input on the SRM-1801.

Using two more XLR cables. We’re going to patch from the High-Pass outputs A and B from the SRM-1801 into
the TH-15A inputs. The A High-Pass output will patch into the left TH-15A and the B High-Pass output will patch
into the right TH-15A.
