Appendix 2 Frequent ly Asked Questions
1.
After Power up, “No HDD” message is flashing on the local monitor
This is an indication that either the harddisks are not installed correctly or no harddisk is installed at all. Refer to
Appendix 3
Hard disk installation
. Also inside the DVR there is a yellow sticker with instructions on harddisk
installation.
2.
Remote control does not work
Most of the cases fall into two reasons: battery problem or address mismatch.
Battery Problem: Make sure that two good AAA type batteries are installed.
Address Mismatch: one remote control unit can be used to control multiple DVRs. Each DVR is programmed to
accept control signal from one of 256 channels. This setting can be found under MENU->SYSTEM SETTING
->GENERAL-> REMOTEADDR. To change the output channel of the remote control unit to match one particular
DVR (represented by Channel # 1 to 256), aiming at the DVR, press the “ADD” button which is located at the right
upper corner of the remote control. There should be a message displaying on the local monitor “ADDRESS _ _ _”.
Use the remote control’
s numeric keys to input the DVR’
s channel number and press the ENTER button.
If you cannot get the “ADDRESS _ _ _” message and the connection of the local monitor is correct, please call
your vendor for support.
3.
When I power down the DVR, why do I have to press and hold the power button for 4 seconds?
First of all, using the front orange power button to shut down the DVR will make sure the DVR properly finish and
close all it operation and file system, thus eliminate many possible causes for harddisk errors leading to data loss.
This is the correct way of powering down a DVR.
Secondly, requiring holding the button for over 4 seconds is to avoid accidental shutdown of the DVR due to
unintended touch of the button. You can make the shutdown more secure (i.e. avoid unauthorized shutting down)
by activating the shutdown password protection feature. (MENU ->ADMIN SETTING->OTHERS->
SHUTDOWN PASSWORD)
4.
When I playback one record, I cannot hear the audio and I double checked the microphone is correctly connected.
By factory default, the DVR is set to record video only. If audio recording is desired, you can change the setting to
Video and Audio (A/V) at MENU->SYSTEM SETTNG->IMAGE->MODE.
