5.9.2 Replacing Master Hold-Down Cylinder
The hold-down is raised and lowered by a master and slave single-acting hydraulic cylinder. The master cylinder is
located at the left end of the hold-down.
Cylinder operation is adversely affected by air in the system and cylinder seal failure. Remove, repair, or replace
cylinders if either of these issues arise.
Removing Master Cylinder
DANGER
To avoid bodily injury or death from unexpected startup of machine, always stop engine and remove key
from ignition before leaving operator
’
s seat for any reason.
1. Lower the header and hold-down completely. Continue pressing the hold-down lower switch for 5
–
10 seconds
to remove any pressure in the system.
2. Stop the engine and remove the key from the ignition.
3. Open the left endshield. Refer to 3.3.1 Opening Left Endshield, page 29 .
