Revision A
Adding Engine Oil
If the engine oil dipstick shows that the engine oil level is low, or if the oil has been drained, more oil will need to be added.
DANGER
To prevent bodily injury or death from the unexpected startup of the machine, always stop the engine and remove the
key from the ignition before leaving the operator
’
s seat for any reason.
1.
Shut down the engine, and remove the key from the ignition.
2.
Open the hood. For instructions, refer to

3.
Clean the area around filler cap (A). Turn the cap
counterclockwise to unlock it. Remove the cap.
4.
Carefully pour in new oil. A funnel is recommended to
avoid spillage. For oil specifications, refer to
Lubricants, Fluids, and System Capacities, page 279
CAUTION
Do NOT fill above the HIGH mark.
5.
Replace oil filler cap (A) and turn it clockwise until it is snug.
6.
Check the oil level. For instructions, refer to
Checking Engine Oil Level, page 192

Engine Operation
To ensure the length of the windrower
’
s service life, its engine needs to be started, operated, and shut down according to
the provided procedures.
Starting Engine
The windrower
’
s computer will allow the engine to be started only when certain safety conditions have been met.
DANGER
•
Start the engine only when the windrower is in a well-ventilated space.
•
The windrower is equipped with safety devices which allow the engine to start only when the ground speed lever
(GSL) is in PARK, the steering wheel is locked in the PARK position, and the HEADER ENGAGE switch is in the OFF
position. Under NO circumstances are these devices to be deliberately rewired or adjusted so that the engine can
be started when the GSL is out of the NEUTRAL position.
•
Do NOT start the engine by creating a short across the starter or the starter relay terminals. If the normal starting
circuitry is bypassed, the machine can start while the drive is engaged and potentially start moving.
•
Do NOT start the engine from any other position except the operator
’
s seat.
•
Do NOT start the engine while someone is under or near the machine.
