The air cleaner
’
s primary filter should be replaced after every three cleanings or at the interval specified in the
maintenance schedule. The secondary element should be replaced every third time the primary element is changed.
IMPORTANT:
The secondary (inner) element should NEVER be cleaned, only replaced.
IMPORTANT:
Air filter element cleaning is
NOT
recommended due to the possible degradation of the element material. If cleaning is
performed, there are several risks involved and the following procedure should be followed. If any of the following
conditions are found, the filter element
MUST
be replaced.
1.
Use a bright light to inspect the inside of the element, looking carefully for holes in the element
’
s fabric.
2.
Check the outer screen for dents.
3.
Inspect the filter gasket for cracks, tears, or other signs of damage.
4.
Inspect the element for oil or soot contamination.
5.
Inspect the secondary element for cleanliness. If there is visible dirt on the secondary element, replace both the
primary and secondary elements. Do
NOT
attempt to clean and reuse the elements.
