Installing Primary Fuel Filter
IMPORTANT:
Do
NOT
pre-fill the filter with fuel. Pre-filling can contaminate the fuel system.
NOTE:
If replacing the filter, refer to
5.1.5 Filter Part Numbers, page 234

1.
Apply some diesel fuel to the filter gasket, and screw new
filter (A) onto the filter mount until the gasket contacts the
filter head.
2.
Reconnect water in fuel (WIF) sensor (B).
3.
Tighten the filter an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn by hand.
IMPORTANT:
Do
NOT
use a filter wrench to install the filter.
Overtightening can damage the gasket and filter.

key from the ignition before leaving the operator

1.
Shut down the engine, and remove the key from the ignition.
2.
Open the hood. For instructions, refer to

3.
Clean around secondary filter head (A).
4.
Place a container under the filter to catch spilled fluid.
5.
Remove filter (B) with a filter wrench.
6.
Clean the gasket mating surface.
