Protocol Messages

Network Device to Host Protocol Message
A – Acknowledgement
Acknowledgment. Informs the host computer that the DOS terminal received the message and
acknowledged it.
B – Busy
Busy message. Device was busy and did not accept the last message that the host sent. This
message also returns the DOS terminal ID (if available) of the message that was not accepted.
C – Carrier Active
Carrier active message. Has no function.
D – Reset
Reset message. Sends a D protocol message anytime it resets.
L – On-Line
On-line message. Sends an L protocol message to the host computer when it goes back on-line.

N – Non-Acknowledgement
Non-acknowledgment message. Sends an N protocol message to the host when the DOS terminal
does not acknowledge a message sent to it.
O – Off-Line
Off-line message. Sends an O protocol message to the host computer when it goes off-line.
