Installing and Removing Modules
Replacing the fan tray
Stinger® FS/Stinger FS+ Getting Started Guide
6-9
Figure 6-6. Fan tray removal and installation
4
Align the replacement fan tray with the fan tray guide rails inside the chassis, as
shown in Figure 6-6, and slide the fan tray into the chassis until it engages the
power connector within the chassis.
5
Press the fan tray firmly into the chassis to fully engage the power connector.
6
Use a flat blade (common) screwdriver to close the quarter-turn latches by
rotating them in the direction shown in Figure 6-5.
Replacing power filters
Power filters on chassis manufactured since late 2005 are not field replaceable.
Chassis manufactured prior to late 2005 have a removable air intake screen. This
screen can be removed to gain access to two internal restraining nuts that secure each
power filter. On chassis manufactured since late 2005 this screen is an integral part of
the bottom of the chassis. On these chassis the internal power filter restraining nuts
cannot be easily reached without partial disassembly of the chassis. Power filters on
these units are not designed for replacement in the field.
Before replacing a power filter, all power must be removed from the unit. At a
minimum, replacement of the power filter also requires the removal of the
ventilation screen and air filter from the front of the chassis. You may also decide
remove other modules during this process to provide greater access or visibility.
Replacement of a power filter in a Stinger FS or Stinger FS+ chassis should only be
performed by a qualified Lucent technician.
Warning
Do not attempt to replace the power filter on a Stinger FS or Stinger FS+
unit unless all power has been removed from the unit. Doing so, you risk contact
with live, electrically charged components of the unit.
