Overview
Use this procedure to copy the software generic from an in-service
Metropolis
®
DMXplore shelf to the following types of remote NEs.
•
Metropolis
®
DMXplore
•
Metropolis
®
DMX
•
Metropolis
®
DMXtend
Metropolis
®
DMX and Metropolis
®
DMXtend can accept and store
the Metropolis
®
DMXplore software generic in their second dormant
area.
Important! This procedure requires that the software generic to
be copied is installed in the dormant area of the source
Metropolis
®
DMXplore shelf. You must also have OSI
connectivity (via your OSI LAN or DCC) between the source
and the destination NEs.
Privilege level
You must log in as a Privileged user to complete this procedure.
Required equipment
The following equipment is required:
•
At least one of the following cables:
–
RS-232 cable with an RJ-45 connector on one end and a PC
serial connector on the other (typically DB9) for the
RS232
port.
–
CAT5 Ethernet cable with either a 10/100 hub or a
cross-over cable for the
LAN
port.
•
Copy of the new system generic software program on your PC or
FTP server.

DMXplore Access Multiplexer Software
Release Description for the software generic being installed.
