Fitting Instruction
Before the installation of the lid read this manual carefully.
Observe all relevant instructions of the motorcycle manufacturer regarding the exchange of the reservoir
lid and the type of applicable brake fluid for your motorcycle. The reservoir lid are affecting the safe
operation of your motorcycle. The installation shall be conducted by a qualified person.
Keep this manual for a later use.
1.
Before the conducting the installation make sure that the motorcycle stands solidly on the ground.
To prevent any loss of fluids due to an inclined position of the reservoir (while opening the
reservoirs) make sure that the handlebar of motorcycle is positioned properly. The fluid level shall
be parallel to the brake fluid reservoir housing.
2.
Clean the reservoir before opening/loosen the screws to prevent particles contaminating the brake
fluid.
CAUTION:
Contaminated fluid can lead to failure of the correct brake function and is a high risk for
your safety and the safe operation of the motorcycle.
3.
It is mandatory to respect the safety advisories regarding the handling of DOT 4 brake fluids.
4.
Untighten the two screws of the reservoir lid and remove the lid carefully. Leave the gasket inside
the reservoir. Clean wet spots of the fluid from the gasket and/or the reservoir housing with a clean
and dust free towel.
5.
Place the HIGHSIDER CNC lid carefully onto the reservoir housing/gasket and make sure that the
lid and the gasket are both in the correct position. Do not use excessive force to press the lid onto
the reservoir body. Tighten the two screws (hand tighten only). Make sure not to squeeze the gasket
as deformation of the gasket can lead to an unsealed condition or the brake fluid reservoir.
6.
Remove any leaked fluid from affect parts or clothes instantly. DOT 4 brake fluid is very aggressive
against painted surfaces and organic materials.
7.
CAUTION:
Check the correct brake fluid level of the reservoir after the exchange of the lid is
finished!
8.
CAUTION:
Perform a thorough functional check of the brake system after the exchange of the lid
Is finished. In addition, check the reservoir level before the use of the motorcycle frequently after
the exchange. This assures the recognition of any loss of fluid/leakage as early as possible.
9.
CAUTION:
Before each ride a check of the brake fluid level must be performed. In case of any wet
spots around the brake fluid reservoir lid, the correct installation of the gasket must be confirmed.
Never use the motorcycle with low brake fluid level!
10.
CAUTION:
The operation of the motorcycle with low brake fluid level or improper function of the
brake system adversely affects your safety and can lead to accidents and serious injuries.
