INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

WIRING CONNECTIONS BETWEEN AP-2TB AND REMOTE SPEAKER/

MICROPHONE. (TLM-W is used as an example only. Use same con-

nections for other speaker/microphones units.)

1.  Connect one end of cable to remote speaker/microphone as

shown in the interconnection diagram.  Use 4 conductor shield-

ed audio cable such as West Penn 356.  Connect wires wrapped

with overall shield to terminals “A”, “B”, and “C” of Speaker/

Microphone’s terminal block.  When using sample color coded

cable, connect red wire to terminal “A”; black wire to terminal

“B” and bare wire to terminal “C”.

2.  Connect the other two wires of TLM-W 70V transformer (twisted

pair) to the “SP” and “G” of AP-2TB using wire nutts.  Connect

cable’s green wire to terminal marked “SP”.  Connect cable’s

white wire to terminal marked “G”.

3.  Connect the other end of the cable to AP-2TB Mic 6-Pin Terminal

Block [13] for Zone 1.  Make sure that wire connected to terminal

“A” of remote speaker/microphone connects to terminal “A” of

AP-2TB’s Mic 6-Pin Terminal Block [13]; wire connected to ter-

minal “B” of speaker/microphone  connects to terminal “B” of

AP-2TB; “C” to “C”, “SP” to “SP” and “G” to “G”.  Terminal “P”

of  AP-2TB is used only when paralleling to a second AP-2TB (or

more). Observe cable color coding.

4.  Repeat connections for Zone 2.

5.  When a recording device is used, connect Audio-OUT Jack [12]

to recorder’s Audio-IN Jack with an RCA cable (not supplied).

6.  Connect Audio-IN Jack [11] to recorder’s Audio-OUT Jack with

an RCA cable.

7.  Plug AC Adapter (supplied) to DC-IN Jack [14]

OPERATION AND TEST

1.  First plug DC output of AC Adapter to DC-IN Jack [14],then plug

AC Adapter to 120 Vac supply.

2.  Turn power to the unit by rotating to ON position, the Power-Vol-

ume Knob[1]. The Power LED[3] will light.

3.   Push in to activate Zone 1 Switch [4]. Zone Switch is lighted in-

dicating two-way audio monitoring is activated. Audio should be

present at the Monitor Speaker [10].  If there is no audio, with

a voltmeter, check for 12 Vdc at terminals “A” and “C”.  Place

positive lead of voltmeter to terminal “A” and negative to “C”.   If

voltage is not present, there might be a short on the wiring that

may cause the resettable fuse to open. Check that wires are con-

nected properly to the correct terminals.  Otherwise microphone

is defective.  Call factory for assistance.  Adjust volume of audio

by rotation the Power-Volume Knob[1] clockwise to increase or

counterclockwise to decrease.

4.  Press and hold Talkback Switch [9] and speak into Talkback

MIC[6]. To increase or decrease the audio heard at the remote

speaker/microphone unit, rotate Talkback Volume Knob[8] clock-

wise to increase or counterclockwise to decrease. Another per-

son is needed to listen to the volume and clarity of talkback at the

remote location..

5.  Repeat test for Zone 2.

6.  When a recording device is connected to the unit, press record

and record live audio into the DVR/VCR.  Press Playback/Mute

Switch [7] to playback. Switch indicator will light and the audio

from the remote microphone is muted. The unit is ready for re-

ceiving audio playback from a recorder.

7.  Playback/Mute Switch[7] can be used to mute live audio coming

from the remote microphone. Audio comes back in when this

switch is depressed.
