What are the Part Numbers for the single channel DVR?
A:
They are as follows:
• DXR1080-A: Lorex Single Channel DVR with 80GB HDD
• DXR1180-A: Lorex Single Channel DVR with 80GB HDD and Audio
• SXR1140-A: Sylvania Single Channel DVR with 40GB HDD and Audio
• Anything beginning with DGR is a Digmerge unit.
Q:
What are the main differences between the DVR and a Time Lapse VCR?
A:
A DVR is recording video as digital data and storing this information to a hard drive. The VCR is storing the analog video information to
a VHS tape.
The DVR has many advantages over the TL VCR. These include:
• Longer Record Times
• Higher frame rates and video quality.
• No need to replace tapes.
• Cleaning and maintenance unnecessary as there are no moving parts.
• Search and seek times are measured under 1 second for DVRs vs.over 1 minute for VCRs.
Q:
How long can I record for?
A:
This depends on the HDD size, as well as the Quality and Frame Rate settings being used. Use the attached chart to determine
the approximate recording times based on the Hard Drive used.
Q:
Can I view live and recorded video over a network or the internet?
A:
No, the DGR100 series are stand-alone units with no network viewing or control capabilities. the network An optional DVM2100
A/D converter and software is available for the 100 series DVR products. This enables viewing over the network.
Q:
Can I use this unit to record television programs?
A:
No. This unit was not designed for this purpose. It should be used for CCTV applications only. There is no built in TV tuner

What is the RS-232/485 interface used for?
A:
This allows the DVR to be controlled via the Serial port on a PC or a RS-485 keypad device. ASCII commands are sent to the DVR
to allow the user to remotely perform any function that would typically be preformed via the front DVR buttons. (Example – PLAY,
PAUSE, RECORD, FF, etc) Please see Application Note # 001 for further information. NOTE: This connection does not provide remote
viewing.

What is the maximum hard disk size supported?
A:
The maximum supported HDD size is 120GB.
Q:
Where can I purchase additional HDD’s?
A:
Additional HDD’s are available. The part number HDD120GB-A is for a 120 GB Hard drive with cartridge. Also, the customer
could purchase a new hard drive from any PC part supplier and install it in the cartridge according to the instructions in the manual.
Q:
Is the hard drive hot-swappable?
A:
No, the HDD’s are not hot-swappable in these DVR’s. When removing the hard drive, please power the system down prior to doing so.
Q:
How do I store video on a CD-ROM or VHS tape?
A:
Please refer to Application Note # 002 for overview and instructions.
Q:
How do I enable/disable the keylock feature?
A:
Keylock disables all front key activity. This prevents someone from stopping the unit from recording, etc. To enable/disable this function,
press and hold the Menu and Enter keys for 2 seconds.

How do I set the system Time/Date?
A:
Enter the Main menu, scroll to System, press Enter. Scroll to ‘Time/Date’ and press Enter. Use the direction buttons to change. To
exit press Menu.
Q:
The Hard Drive is full. How do I clear it?
A:
Enter the Main Menu, scroll to System and press Enter. Scroll to ‘Clear HDD’ and press enter. Press the Up button to change to
‘YES’ and hit Enter. Confirm that you wish to clear the HDD by pressing the Right arrow button.
Q:
What is the ‘HDD Overwrite’ option?
A:
If this option is enabled in the System Menu, the hard drive will continue recording when it fills up. Old images will be overwritten as
recording continues.
