Replacing the interior lamp
T
he interior of your Animated Caboose is illuminated by one lamp. During the course of
normal operations, you may find that this lamp requires replacement. Replacement lamps
are available at your authorized Lionel Service Center or from Lionel Service in Chesterfield, MI.
Refer to Figure 1 on page 3.
If you are operating the caboose on a Command Control layout, install the 18-volt
replacement lamp that is included with this car.
1. Operate the car until the figure is off the platform.
2. Pull the figure off its base.
3. Operate the car until the base moves inside the platform.
4. Remove the screw on both ends of the car.
5. Lift the body off the frame.
6. Pull the lamp out of the socket and install the replacement. For conventional layouts, install
Lionel part no. 600-8352-311 (12-volt lamp). For Command Control layouts, install Lionel
part no. 612-3011-311 (18-volt lamp).
7. Reassemble the car, following these steps in reverse order.
Operating the Animated Caboose

our Animated Caboose is designed to operate at 10-18 volts (AC). Place the car on Lionel or
Lionel-compatible O gauge track with a minimum curve diameter of 27”. When the track is
powered up, the interior will illuminate. The figure will automatically move to the side of the
platform and back at regular intervals.
Do not attempt to move the figure by hand.
