Features of the automatic system include an adjustable line regulator, hoses with built-in check valves, gas economizer circuit , system status lights and wall mounting brackets.
3. Description
The Model 240 Series Switchover Manifolds are designed to provide a continuous supply of gas. The system automatically changes from a depleted bank of cylinder(s) in service to
a full reserve bank without an interruption of gas supply. A simple rotation of the primary bank selector knob resets the unit once the depleted bank of cylinder(s) has been replaced.
The standard outlet regulator maintains a constant line pressure, even during the switchover process. Built-in economizer circuit insures that any gas pressure build-up on the
reserve side will not vent to atmosphere, but will be diverted into the gas stream where it can be used.
4. General Instructions
Manifolds should be installed in accordance with guidelines stated by the National Fire Protection Association, the Compressed Gas Association, OSHA and all applicable local codes.
The manifolds should not be placed in a location where the temperature will exceed 120°F (49°C) or fall below –20°F (-29°C) for sustained periods of time.
A manifold placed
outside in an open location should be protected against rain and excessive moisture. During winter, protect the manifold from ice and snow. The manifold should
be located in a clean, well-ventilated area which is free of oil and combustible materials.
Leave all protective covers in place until their removal is required for installation. This precaution will keep moisture and debris from the piping interior, avoiding operational problems.
All safety relief valves should be piped/vented to an outside location away from personnel. Failure to properly pipe away the external manifold relief valve can create hazardous
conditions. Flammable, oxidizing and asphyxiant gases in the general vicinity of personnel can result in extremely hazardous conditions. Any failure of internal pressure reducing valves,
seats or seals can cause excess pressure to build up and release dangerous gases into the surrounding environment.

The Series 240 Manifolds can be used either with two cylinders (one on each side) or with multiple cylinders on each side. All systems will come with a multi-port adapter for connection
of up to 3 cylinders per side. See Figure 1. Ports that are not used must be plugged. All plugs must be sealed with Teflon tape and wrench tightened.
