Before lifting, remember the following!
• The need for one or more caregivers must be determined
from case to case.
• Ensure that the sling selected meets the patient’s needs
with reference to model, size, fabric and design.
• For safety and hygiene reasons, use individual slings.
• Before lifting, plan the lifting operation so that it can be
done as safely and smoothly as possible.
• Before lifting, check that the lifting accessory hangs
vertically and can move freely.
• Although Liko’s sling bars are equipped with latches,
particular care should be taken. Before the patient is lifted
from the underlying surface, but after the straps have
beenfully extended, make sure the straps are properly
hooked to the sling bar.
• Never lift a patient higher above the underlying surface
than is necessary for the lifting and transfer procedure.
• Make sure the patient is sitting securely in the sling before
transferring to another location.
• Never leave a patient unattended during a lifting situation.
• Make sure the wheels on the wheelchair, bed, gurney, etc.
are locked during the lifting/transfer operation.
• Always work ergonomically.
Liko Vest for StandingShell
Procedure
Lay the Vest for StandingShell on the floor and place
the standing shell on top of the vest, so that its upper
edge is slightly higher than the standing shell’s upper
edge. Pull the leg harnesses forward, so that they are
accessible between the leg sections of the standing
shell.
Lower the patient in such a way that his/her feet and
legs will be correctly positioned in the standing shell.
Continue lowering carefully until the patient is lying flat,
ensuring that he/she has the necessary head support.
Fasten the standing shell around the patient according
to the instructions.
If appropriate, the sling can be left on the patient, but the leg supports should be adjusted so as not to cause
inconvenience or discomfort.
Take hold of the loop straps, cross them and pass one through each metal D-ring.
Connect leg harness fasteners and adjust leg harness length.
