How To... Replace the Alternator

Special Service Tools: NONE

1. Remove the side shrouds. See “How

To…” in this section.

2. Remove the alternator belt. See “How

To…” in this section.

3. Disconnect the main wiring cable

connector from the back of the power
control board.

4. Tag and identify all wiring at the back of

the alternator, and then remove them from
their mounting posts.

5. Index the tensioning bolt to the

alternator mounting bracket, and
then remove the tensioning bolt
and pivot bolt.

6. Remove the alternator and install

new alternator in reverse order.
