Relay Installation
1.
WARNING:
TO AVOID FIRE, SHOCK, OR DEATH;
TURN OFF POWER
AT CIRCUIT BREAKER OR FUSE AND TEST THAT THE POWER IS OFF BEFORE WIRING!
2.
Locate an empty location in the relay cabinet to install the relay.
NOTE:
Remove the cabinet door and covers as needed to provide access to the location in the Relay Insert Panel.
4.
Remove the Blank Filler Module if previously installed. Depress the locking tab of the Relay Insert Panel while sliding the relay module horizontally away from the center connector strip.
5.
Orient the relay alignment tabs and the mounting clips with the slots in the Relay Insert Panel.
6.
Press relay against the Relay Insert Panel and slide the relay horizontally toward the center to engage the connectors.
WIRING:
1.
Follow the wiring diagram on each relay.
NOTE:
Line and load terminals are in pairs on the top and bottom of a horizontally mounted relay. The LINE conductors should be connected to the lower tier of terminals and the LOAD
on the upper tier.
2.
Replace all covers before restoring power.
NOTE:
To remove relay,
TURN OFF POWER
and depress the locking tab of the Relay Insert Panel while sliding the relay module horizontally away from the center connector strip.
Relay Insert Panel Installation
1.
Position Relay Insert Panels on the locating tabs of the cabinet and fasten in place with the two mounting screws provided at the top of each panel. Install the upper most Relay Insert
Panel first.
2.
Plug the ribbon cable and the neutral jumper into the designated connectors of the panel mounted directly above the one being installed. This may be a Command Module or an Insert
Panel depending on position. The uppermost Neutral jumper must be extended to make a connection with the Power Supply neutral and the panel feed.
NOTE:
Relay line and load terminals are suitable for wire sizes #6 to #14 AWG copper wire (solid or stranded). Stranded wire should be tightly twisted before insertion into terminal.
4.
Connect Line and Load to the relays according to the panel schedule provided in the document package.
5.
To test circuit, turn circuit breaker OFF, use the manual actuator handle to turn the relay to the Closed or ON position and then turn the circuit breaker ON. This prevents damage to the
relay if the circuit is shorted.
6.
Individual relays can be relocated or added as space allows.
