The arm
Set up the tripod by extending its legs. The azimuth slow-motion control assembly is already attached to the
tripod. There are two holes on the side of this assembly that are used to attach the arm. Bolt the mount arm to
the assembly through these holes, using two of the four smaller 4-mm hex bolts supplied in the accessory bag.
The arm can be mounted in any of the three positions, based on your requirements.
Altitude slow-motion control
Once you have installed the mount arm in the desired position, attach the altitude slow-motion control assem
-
bly to the top of the arm. Use the second pair of 4-mm hex bolts from the accessory bag.
Dovetail mount
An adapter for the dovetail mount is already attached to the altitude slow-motion control assembly. Attach the
dovetail mount to the altitude slow-motion control assembly with two large 6-mm hex bolts from the accessory
bag. There are four threaded holes on the preinstalled adapter – the dovetail mount can only be attached to
the assembly in one position.

Altazimuth Mount Levenhuk Ra ATZ
Congratulations on your purchase of a high-quality Levenhuk mount!
These instructions will help you set up, properly use, and care for your mount. Please read them thoroughly
before getting started.
All parts of the mount will arrive in one box. Be careful when unpacking it. We recommend keeping the original
shipping containers. In the event that the mount needs to be shipped to another location, having the proper
shipping containers will help ensure that your mount survives the journey intact. Make sure all the parts are
present in the packaging. Be sure to check the box carefully, as some parts are small. No tools are needed other
than those provided. All screws should be tightened securely to eliminate flexing and wobbling, but be careful
not to overtighten them, as that may strip the threads.
Levenhuk Ra ATZ is one of the most stable, practical, and precise mounts available for casual stargazing. It may
also be used for terrestrial observations, which further expands its range of capabilities.
CAUTION! Never look directly at the Sun – even for an instant – through your telescope or finderscope with
-
out a professionally made solar filter that completely covers the front of the instrument, or permanent eye
damage may result. To avoid damage to the internal parts of your telescope, make sure the front end of
the finderscope is covered with aluminum foil or another non-transparent material. Children should use the
telescope under adult supervision only.

Once this is done, your Levenhuk Ra ATZ is ready to use. It should look like the mount on the image below.

There are three recessed screws on both slow-motion control assemblies and on the dovetail mount adapter.
Do not attempt to remove, loosen, tighten, or otherwise adjust them as this may damage the slow-motion con
-
trols, and the product warranty will be null and void.
The smaller knobs on both slow-motion control assemblies are the tension knobs that may be used to adjust the
mount for heavier optical tubes.
Levenhuk Ra ATZ has a maximum payload capacity of 20 pounds (9 kg). However, a heavier optical tube, com
-
bined with a poorly adjusted tension knob, may cause your scope to tilt and fall over, causing possible damage
to your equipment. Exercise care and caution during your observations with such optical tubes.
Three recessed screws in the chrome adapter collar between the azimuth slow-motion control assembly and
the tripod hold the assembly firmly in the adapter. These will probably never need adjustment. However, if the
connection starts to loosen with extended use, tighten the large bolt underneath the tripod head that holds the
mount to the tripod and tighten these setscrews to secure the connection.
During initial assembly, the coat of paint in threaded holes may require a little extra force to thread the first
time. After using the mount once or twice, the connection points may come slightly loose. Simply tighten all
bolts again and they should stay solid from that point onward. The tripod may be used with different mounts.
