Removing the M.2 solid-state drive
To remove the M.2 solid-state drive (SSD), do the following:
1. Prepare your server. See “Preparing your server in advance” on page 47.
2. If the server is installed with a PCIe card, remove the card. See “Removing the PCIe card” on page 56.
3. Locate the M.2 SSD and remove the screw that secures it. Then, lift it up to remove it from the system
board.

4. Reinstall the PCIe card if you have removed it. See “Installing the PCIe card” on page 56.
5. If you are instructed to return the old M.2 SSD, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging
materials that are supplied to you for shipping.

Installing the M.2 solid-state drive
To install the M.2 SSD, do the following:
1. Prepare your server. See “Preparing your server in advance” on page 47.
2. If the server is installed with a PCIe card, remove the card. See “Removing the PCIe card” on page 56.
3. If the server comes with an old M.2 SSD, remove the old M.2 SSD. See “Removing the M.2 solid-state
drive” on page 65.
4. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new M.2 SSD to any unpainted surface on the
outside of the server. Then, take the M.2 SSD out of the package.
