Thank you for buying Lejonklou Giella!
Please read this manual carefully before connecting your
Giella.
Connecting
Giella is a headphone amplifier built in dual mono. That
means each side handles one channel only; left and right.
Start by
connecting your line level source, using a good pair
of unbalanced interconnects, to the upper RCA sockets
marked IN.
If you want your Giella to work as a preamplifier in your HiFi
system (Giella a remarkably musical volume control), connect
a pair of interconnects from the lower RCA sockets to your
power amplifier.
When you insert a pair of headphones into the centrally
positioned 1/4" jack, the signal to the power amplifier will be
muted. In other words, you can't listen to headphones at the
same time as your loudspeakers are playing.
Make sure the RCA connectors are pushed all the way in, but
beware of using excessive force
as you might cause cracks
in the circuit board. If connectors are too tight (which is a
common problem) or too loose, the music will suffer.
If you need advice on how to adjust your connectors for
optimal pressure, please contact us, your dealer or our popular
forum on the internet!
Before connecting the power cord, please lower the volume on
your Giella by turning the silver volume knob on the front
counter-clockwise.
On European models, make sure the
live
phase of your power
socket is on the same side as the
x
in the name
Volex
printed
on the pin side of the power cord plug. This will result in a
weaker electrical field around the power supply inside Giella,
which improves the sound quality.
Never ever
shorten or modify the power cord of your Giella!
Its parts and length is vital to optimal performance.
Giella has very low power consumption and is designed to be
operating continually. We strongly recommend, however, that
you disconnect your Giella from the mains during
thunderstorms or if left unused for longer periods of time.
Please be careful with high volumes when listening to
headphones! When the sound is very clean, noise levels
extremely low and the music very engaging, as is the case when
using Giella to drive a good pair of headphones, it's easy to
crank the volume up because you want to feel even
more
.
This can damage your hearing, so please be aware!
We hope you will enjoy your Giella!
If you encounter any problems with it, please contact your
retailer or Lejonklou directly. Email and telephone information
can be found on the last page of this manual.
