Testing
the
Deaf
Smoke
Alarm
Kit
Pressing
the
TEST
button
on
the
smoke
detector
will
sound
the
audible
alarm,
flash
the
strobe
light,
activate
the
vibrating
pad
and
transmit
an
alarm
call.
Pressing
the
TEST
button
on
the
main
control
unit
will
flash
the
strobe
light,
activate
the
vibrating
pad
and
transmit
an
alarm
call.
The
RED
light
on
the
smoke
detector
will
flash
every
40
seconds
when
it
is
operating
correctly.
Main
Control

Indicator
Lights
The
GREEN
MAINS
light
will
illuminate
to
show
the
mains
supply
is
healthy.
The
RED
BATTERY
light
will
flash
(and
the
green
light
will
go
out)
if
the
unit
is
running
on
battery
power
alone.
If
the
WHITE
STROBE
light
flashes
there
is
a
break
in
the
cable
to
the
smoke
detector
or
the
vibrating
pad
is
disconnected.
Cleaning
the
Smoke
Detector
The
smoke
detector
may
become
less
sensitive
if
air
flow
through
its
vents
is
restricted.
Every
6
months
use
the
nozzle
attachment
on
a
vacuum
cleaner
to
remove
dust,
insects
and
cobwebs
from
the
side
slots.
The
detector
can
be
wiped
clean
with
a
damp
cloth,
never
use
detergents
or
polish
etc.
Important
Information
when
decorating
Never
paint
the
smoke
detector
itself.
During
decorating
the
device
should
be
removed
or
covered
with
a
plastic
bag
to
prevent
contamination.
Remember,
whilst
covered
the
smoke
detector
cannot
operate.
Radio
Transmitter
Battery
Life
The
radio
transmitter
battery
is
checked
once
a
day,
if
the
voltage
falls
and
stays
below
a
preset
level
for
7
consecutive
days
a
low
battery
call
is
automatically
sent
to
the
Control
Centre
or
Local
Manager.
